In order to study the effects of acupuncture stimulation on the loci of BaegHoe (GV20) and Ginseng extract administration on the blood pressure and serum, the blood pressure of spontaneous hypertensive rats, the amount of total cholesterol, triglyceride, phospholipid and alkaline phosphatase activities in serum were measured, dividing the experimental groups into acupuncture on Blank locus (non-acupuncture locus at the root of the tail group, adminitration of 10 g % Ginseng extract solution group, acupuncture on BaegHoe (GV20) group, and acupuncture plus administration group.
The following results have been obtained.
1. The blood pressure of S.H.R. was significantly lowed from 1 to 2 hours in all the experimental groups but acupuncture on Blank locus.
Especially, continuous and remarkable effectiveness was recognized in acupuncture stimulation plus administration.
2. Total cholesterol in serum was significantly decreased after 10 days in all the experimental groups in comparison with the control group.
Especially, remarkable effectiveness was recognized in acupuncture plus administration.
3. Triglyceride and phospholipid in serum was significantly decreased after 10 days in acupuncture plus administration only.
4. Activities of alkaline phosphatase in serum was significantly decreased after 10 days in all the experimental groups in comparison with the control group. the most effective decrease was shown in acupuncture plus administration.
According to the above results, it is concluded that acupuncture stimulation on BaegHoe (GV20) and Ginseng extract administration have an effect on the anti-hypertension and lipid metabolism in serum : And, it seems to be applicable to hypertension and cerebrovascular accidents clinically.
